Vintage: 2000
Origin: Multi-district blend. Significant contributions from the Groenekloof ward on the Cape West Coast, the Bottlelary Hills outside Stellenbosch and Perdeberg.
Variety: 100% Pinotage
Soil type: Mainly decomposed granite soils with good clay content. The soils of the Perdeberg area are of scale origin.
Harvest date: Harvest commenced on the 9th of February 2000 and carried through to the 3rd of March 2000.
Yield: 6 tons/ha or 42 hl/ha
Harvest statistics: Harvested at an average of 24şB

Vinification: Fermentation of this wine was initiated in stainless steel tanks, underwent a series of pump overs and completed fermentation in barrels.
Maturation: This wine was matured in French oak barrels for 14 months. 25% of the wood is new.
Bottling: Bottled on the 18th of July 2001 after egg white fining and light filtration.
Analysis: Alcohol 13.0 Vol percent
Residual sugar 2.1 g/litre
TA 5.8 g/litre
pH 3.55
Tasting note: Deep ruby red colour. Complex but fine red berry, plummy fruit. Firmly structured with pleasing ripe tannins.
