Neil Ellis – Meyer Näkel
Zwalu, meaning new beginning, started as a joint venture between Neil Ellis and leading Pinot noir grower, Werner Näkel. The wines originate from the Lorraine farm on the Helshoogte Pass that currently houses the Neil Ellis tasting and administration facilities.
Zwalu is a blend comprising Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Shiraz. The blend might vary each year, depending on the quality of the vintage. ‘Z’ is made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon.
The first magnum bottle of Zwalu was presented to former president Nelson Mandela during a visit to Germany.
